CSA
TRANSITIONAL & RESIDENTIAL HOMES
We
are pleased to announce that we are well on our way
to providing transitional homes for students, women
& children, men & children, and single adults.
We currently have ten houses and will be adding to our
inventory on a quarterly basis. Our goal is to provide
affordable housing and assist people before they join
the growing pool of homeless in Atlanta.
Of
course, this is a huge undertaking and we need as much
help and resources as we can receive. CSA Transitional
& Residential Homes currently need the following:
MENTORS:
Every adult and child who stays in one of our houses
will be afforded a Mentor. Mentors will be responsible
for holding participants to their goals, exposing them
to relevant information and offering motivation and
inspiration.
Time:
This is a 6-month commitment. Mentors will be expected
to communicate with their assigned partner on a weekly
basis and visit him or her in person at least twice
a month.
Training:
Mentors’ training will be ongoing; we will meet
once a month to discuss the progress of each participant.
Signing
Up: If you would like to be a Mentor, please
give us a call at 770.623.4133 or email
us at selfactualized@earthlink.net
stating your desire.
FURNITURE:
We are also in need of furniture, especially twin or
bunk beds. If you would like to donate furniture, please
send an email to selfactualized@earthlink.net
HOME
SUPPLIES: We are in need of basic supplies
for the homes. We currently need vacuum cleaners, pots
and pans, kitchen utensils, bedroom and bathroom trashcans,
lamps, pictures and other items. If you would like to
donate home supplies please send an email to selfactualized@earthlink.net
FINANCIAL
DONATION: Certainly, like all community service
ventures, we are in need of financial donations. If
you would like to make a cash donation or pay a utility
bill please give us a call, email selfactualized@earthlink.net
or mail a check to CSA, P.O. Box 98466, Atlanta, GA
30359.
FIRST
LADY’S VISIT
The
Center for Self-Actualization, Inc. was pleased to host
a special session with the First Lady of Cape
Verde Islands. Cape Verde Islands is a small
country off the western coast of Africa. It is made
up of 8 islands and is considered to be one of the last
true paradises.
Mrs.
Adelcia Pires, the First Lady of Cape Verde Islands,
visited our city during September 19 - 25, 2005. The
purpose of her visit was to cultivate relationships
that could aid the children of Cape Verde Islands.
Her
visit entailed meetings with the Mayor of Atlanta, community
and civil right leaders, along with various universities
and schools.
Thanks
to Ines Silva, a member of CSA and
the owner of IDS Dental Consulting, LLC, Mrs. Pires
honored us with a private meeting about Cape Verde and
how we could partner. We concluded feeling enthusiastic
and excited to assist the children of Cape Verde Islands.
Thus, we are structuring a Vision Trip to see how we
can best serve. If you are interested in accompanying
us, along with many community leaders, to CapeVerde
Islands to be hosted by the Cape Verde Government, please
email us by November 25, 2005 at selfactualized@earthlink.net

FIVE
KEYS TO CREATING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS
1.
Write a Business Plan: Before starting a business
it is imperative that you write a plan of action. This
plan will serve as your guide throughout the course
of your business. You can check your plan to make sure
you are still on track and adjust it as your business
grows.
2.
Build Your Foundation: Take your time and build
a successful foundation, which includes hiring the right
staff and consultants. Your staff might turn over several
times before you have the right combination, but there
is no substitute for having a team that can enhance
your vision.
3.
Have Adequate Financing: Did you know it takes
the average business 3 to 5 years before it sees any
profit? Thus, it is imperative that you have enough
start-up capital to grow your business.
4.
Be repetitive: Doing the same thing over and
over creates expertise. When starting your business
it is important to create a routine. Doing things in
a regimented way guarantees success.
5.
Stay on task: You would be surprised how many
people fail at business because they get off track.
They begin to chase the money instead of staying focused;
therefore it is necessary to stay focused on your goal
and not change direction.
